For long-term success
At Scanmast, we prioritise quality and sustainable development for long-term success. We have a long tradition of working cost-effectively and thinking sustainably. This means, among other things, that we review how we manage the resources used in a project, invest in training for our employees and integrate the global sustainable development goals into our operations.

We act on the 2030 Agenda
The 2030 Agenda is a global action plan adopted in 2015 with 17 Sustainable Development Goals covering economic, social and environmental dimensions. Companies can contribute by integrating relevant goals into their business strategies and processes. At Scanmast, we follow Volati's group-wide focus areas and sustainability policy, invest in training for our employees and integrate the global goals into our operations. This is part of our strategy for long-term success and sustainability.
For 2024, we have selected three specific areas to focus on, to contribute to the 2030 Agenda goals: Environment & Climate, People and Business Ethics.

Our three focus areas

1. Environment & Climate
We are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive difference to the climate. Our strategy is based on careful mapping and concrete actions covering our entire value chain in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5-degree target. We aim to reduce Scope 1 and 2 by 40% by 2030, with a long-term goal of net-zero for Scope 1, 2 and 3 under SBTi. In addition to the resources used in the implementation and delivery of our projects and products, we see a large upside from our positive environmental aspects such as long lifetime and 100% recyclable hot-dip galvanised products as well as a reduced need for travel with a good communication infrastructure. We also work actively to minimise material consumption in products with site-specific calculations.

- Our objectives
- Reduce our own emissions in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5 degree target.
- Strive to use renewable electricity in our operations.
- Streamlining transport to reduce emissions.
- Implementing electric cars as company cars to reduce our own emissions.
- Continue to develop Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for our products to visualise and improve their climate footprint.

2. Employees
Scanmast endeavours to be a respected and attractive employer or client. We want good communication, a good atmosphere and respect for the individual to apply. Our endeavour is that employees feel committed and have the opportunity to participate in the business and contribute to our positive development.
Safety is a top priority and we work according to the motto "Work safely or not at all". We never take any risks, if any task is unsafe we refrain until we can be sure that the work can be carried out safely. We are constantly working on reporting risk observations and incidents for everyone's safety.

- Our objectives
- Work towards a better gender balance.
- Work to maintain a safe working environment according to our motto "work safely, or not at all".
- Work to remain an attractive employer.

3. Business ethics
The concept of business ethics encompasses laws and regulations as well as norms and values.
We and our owner Volati demand good business ethics and proactive anti-corruption work. We must ensure good business ethics, high integrity and reduce the risk of irregularities throughout the value chain. We do this through a clear Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct provides guidelines for how we should act as a responsible company and employer with zero tolerance for poor business ethics and all forms of corruption and bribery. Employees who want to anonymously report something improper can use the anonymous whistleblower function. Scanmast's policy is to always act and inform relevant parties in case of suspicion of corruption.
In areas where Scanmast has influence, employees and others working on our behalf must be familiar with and follow the principles in this Code of Conduct.
Our fundamental principle is to respect the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Global Compact and the ILO (International Labour Organization) Core Conventions.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Scanmast and its partners shall endeavour to establish good relations in the regions where operations are conducted and take their share of responsibility for reducing environmental impact and contributing to lasting sustainable development. Scanmast's social responsibility is based on voluntary commitment to create a sustainable society by taking into account the effects of Scanmast's activities on customers, suppliers, employees, owners and the environment.

- Our objectives
- Sustainable value chain
Steel - a sustainable material
We use steel in our trusses - the most widely used metallic construction material in the world. Steel can withstand extreme environments and last up to 50 years if properly cared for.
Steel is also a circular material that can be recycled an infinite number of times, without any loss of quality. Even treated steel, such as our hot-dip galvanised structures, can be recycled. The magnetic properties of steel mean that our products can be easily dismantled and sorted for recycling or reuse.

Maintenance is important for sustainability
Our maintenance department focuses on extending the lifespan of existing truss structures by checking, reinforcing and repairing them. Taking care of existing facilities leads to both environmental and economic sustainability.
CE marking and Declaration of Performance
All steel structural components, like other construction products covered by a harmonised standard, must bear a CE marking and a declaration of performance in order to be sold within the EU's internal market. A prerequisite for the performance of the products is that the construction is carried out in accordance with our drawings and other instructions.
Since 2012 Scanmast has a certificate covering design, construction and
manufacturing of structural components and kits for Factory Production Control (FPC) according to EN 1090-1. With the support of the certificate, we can CE mark our deliveries and confirm the properties of our load-bearing products. See Certificate 1090-1 and Declaration of Performance for more information.
Policies and certificates
Our code of conduct and our policies on, for example, quality, environment and health and safety
are our overall governing documents. To complement them, there are also
more detailed procedures and instructions collected in our business system that covers the whole of Scanmast. This also applies to the standards ISO 9001:2023, ISO 14001:2023 and ISO 45001:2023. Our technical supports and foundation solutions are designed and manufactured according to the Eurocodes together with national supplements for the relevant country.
