Project Manager

What is it like to work as a project manager at Scanmast?
We spoke to Jacob Frost, Telecoms Project Manager, who gives us an insight into an everyday life filled with variety, learning and team spirit.

A role with breadth and variety

Jacob describes his work as a project manager at Scanmast in three words: rewarding, varied and educational. The role involves leading and being responsible for telecoms construction projects, where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to develop.

A typical working day can include everything from designing new sites and ordering materials to planning upcoming jobs and managing logistics - for example with mobile cranes, crane lorries, ATVs and snowmobiles. It also includes invoice management and ongoing contact with customers. "Coffee at 9am and 2pm is also an important part of the routine," Jacob adds with a smile.

Continuous learning and complex projects

The most exciting and challenging part of the job, according to Jacob, is that he is constantly learning something new. "You always encounter something unexpected that requires you to learn and develop," he says.

One example is a recent project where Jacob was responsible for a 5G SWAP on a roof top site - a complex assignment that required extra effort and problem solving due to site-specific conditions. Here he also had to take greater responsibility for site acquisition, an experience that broadened his expertise further.

Balance between office and field

Although the role is largely office-based, around 90 per cent, Jacob is also out in the field, following the progress of projects on site. "This balance between planning and practical work makes the job particularly dynamic. The work is very free within the given framework of each project. There is always something to do here and we are constantly planning to ensure that all colleagues have an efficient and rewarding working day", says Jacob.

Team spirit and knowledge sharing

A strong team spirit characterises the working environment at Scanmast. "We have good colleagues and an open dialogue climate." says Jacob. He also emphasises the large knowledge bank within the company: "If you're not sure, just ask someone - there's always someone here who can help answer questions."

The co-operation between the departments works well, even though Jacob himself is mostly involved in his own area of telecommunications. Nevertheless, he sees that the whole is characterised by cooperation and commitment.

Development opportunities and motivation

Jacob started his career at Scanmast as a field technician in 2016, with the goal of one day becoming a project manager. After gaining experience, he took the plunge and has now been a project manager for two and a half years. He sees good opportunities for skills development and new career paths within the company, and is motivated by learning something new every day.

Scanmast as an employer

So what makes Scanmast an attractive place to work? For Jacob, it is above all the friendly colleagues and the interesting, challenging tasks. He feels that the company takes care of its employees and is happy to recommend others to apply here: "If you want a varied and educational job, apply to us!"

Pride and support for colleagues

What Jacob is most proud of in his work is the support he can give to his colleagues in the field. With his own background as a field technician, he knows the challenges that exist in the field, and he strives every day to be a good support to facilitate the work of the technicians working in the field. "At Scanmast, commitment, security and quality are key values - here you get to help build the infrastructure of the future together with a knowledgeable and helpful team", concludes Jacob
